NARRAGANSETT -- A 19-year-old Cranston woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident that happened early Saturday evening on Point Judith Avenue, the police said today. Courtney Hollingworth was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. She is listed in serious condition, a hospital spokeswoman said this afternoon. Holllingworth is a student at the University of Rhode Island, the police said. At about 4:40 p.m. Saturday during the weekend rain storm, Hollingworth was traveling north on Point Judith Avenue when she lost control of her Honda vehicle. Witnesses say the car fishtailed over the double yellow lines and into the path of a Chrysler Mini-Van going southbound, driven by Stephen Carpenter, 56, of Narragansett. No information was available on the condition of Carpenter, or a passenger, his wife Nancy. -- Providence staff writer Lisa Vernon-Sparks |
