The "Help is Here Express" bus tour will visit Providence Friday to help people who are uninsured and struggling financially to get information on prescription programs that are free or nearly free. Syndicated talk show host Montel Williams and actor Joey Pantoliano will be along to help deliver the message. The bus will stop at Crossroads Rhode Island, 160 Broad Street, Providence. A news conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. followed by an enrollment event at 11 a.m. The bus tour is part of the Partnership for Prescription Assistance, a nationwide effort sponsored by pharmaceutical research companies. The PPA says it has helped more than 5 million patients, including more than 37,751 in Rhode Island. The bus tour has visited all 50 states and more than 2,000 cities since it was launched in 2005. Patients can also get help through the PPA's Web site, or by calling 1-888-4PPA-NOW. (1-888-477-2669) |
