PROVIDENCE -- Rhode Island's top court will hear arguments next month on whether to release questionnaires completed by potential jurors for the trial of an owner of a nightclub where a fire killed 100 people. The Providence Journal argues that it is constitutionally entitled to the 32-page questionnaires completed by 421 people summoned for the trial of Station nightclub co-owner Michael Derderian. Derderian was charged along with his brother for a 2003 fire at their West Warwick club that was sparked by a rock band's pyrotechnics. The case never went to trial. Both brothers reached plea deals while the jury selection process was under way. The attorney general's office is siding with a judge who refused to release the documents because of juror privacy rights. Arguments are scheduled for Dec. 8. -- The Associated Press CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil. Vicious comments, personal attacks and profanity won't be published. I don't believe it is pertinent that the Providence Journal have access to the potential jurors questioneers. They struck a plea bargain, no trial, there is absolutely NO REASON for further discussion on the matter. Why does the Journal need this information, just to add people's private opinions in their newspaper !!!!!
