NORTH ATTLEBORO -- Crews responded to a chlorine leak today at the 255 John L. Dietsch Blvd. facility of Metalor, a Switzerland-based company that manufactures precious metals. No one was reported injured. Metalor and some surrounding buildings were evacuated of about 300 to 400 people, according to North Attleboro Fire Capt. Peter Cullen. The incident happened about 10:11 a.m. A connecting tube in the company's facility broke, and the chlorine leaked. Cullen said that the leak lasted about 16 minutes, and the company stopped it. A few people were evaluated, as a precaution, but no one was injured or transported by rescue for medical assistance. -- Projo.com staff writer Michael P. McKinney |
