PAWTUCKET -- In a case the police said is similar to several recent armed robberies here, a man went into Ama's Varierty Market on Main Street yesterday and approached the female clerk, gesturing as through carrying a weapon. He demanded money and made off with an undetermined amount of cash from the store at 957 Main St., a Pawtucket police news release today states. The police said the suspect was described as about 5-feet,10-inches to 6 feet tall, of medium build, wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt and gray pants. The police ask that anyone with information call (401) 727-9100, ext. 737. On Wednesday, the police said, at 2:28 p.m. that day, a man armed with a knife entered the A&I Convenience Store at 191 Pawtucket Ave., demanded money from a female clerk, and then fled with an undetermined cash amount. -- projo.com staff writer Michael P.
