Woman critically injured in hit-and-run accident

PROVIDENCE -- A woman is in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital after she was hit by a car yesterday evening.

The woman's name was not released.

The accident happened at 8:20 p.m. by 589 Cranston St., the police said.

The driver of the car, which police described as a 2002 or 2003 light blue Mercury, took off.

Anyone with information is asked to call Providence police at (401) 272-3121.
