Tiverton customers without gas down to 13

TIVERTON -- Thirteen National Grid customers remain without gas service in Tiverton following a distribution problem Thursday that resulted in a dramatic gas pressure drop.

The cause of the distribution problem remains under investigation.

David Graves, a spokesman for the company, said National Grid workers will continue trying to contact the affected customers to restore service. Workers, he said, have called the telephone numbers on record multiple times and visited the houses, leaving a telephone number for them to call.

Under critical conditions, such as if temperatures were to drop threatening to freeze the pipes and damage the house, workers could go into the houses with a locksmith and escorted by a Tiverton police officer, Graves said.

Low temperatures are expected to remain in the mid-30s to 40s this week.

National Grid workers had to enter about 35 houses last week to shut off service when the distribution was disrupted to more than 800 residences and businesses. The affected customers were in the northern portion of the town, from the Stone Bridge section to the Fall River, Mass. line.

I am INFURIATED BY THIS REMARK!!! I one of these so called 13 people without gas. There are a lot more than 13 people still without heat!!! I have called them every day since Friday. I have a very long story because someone actually did come to my home on Monday and I had a Gas leak so he turned off my meter. I have been fighting to get National Gas back over to my home since Tuesday morning when the plumber came in to fix the leak. The first Tech to show up claimed he was there 3 times that day and refused to turn on our heat!! This was a lie because this was the first time on Tuesday that anyone had been to the house. It is now 2:30pm on Thursday Oct 30th. I spoke to a SO-CALLED SUPERVISOR around 11:00 and he said someone was going to be at my house before 3:00 today!! I told him I did not believe him because we have been told this every single day since Friday!!! (With the exception of the person who came on Monday). Not only are we without heat, hot water and a cooking stove, we also have a plumber waiting for National Grid to check us out to make sure he got all the leaks. We called Turn to 10 but they did not seem interested in the story. There is sooo much more to this story that I have almost two pages long of history that I am tracking at this time. We can not seem to get any help!! I wonder how many more there are out there with the same problem!!!!
