PROVIDENCE -- A spicy staple of Portuguese cuisine is the inspiration for a new menu item at Dunkin' Donuts. The company is marketing a chourico breakfast sandwich in Rhode Island and Bristol County in Massachusetts, a region with the largest Portuguese population in the United States. A Dunkin' Donuts spokesman said the coffee-store chain has cooked up other ideas to target regional tastes, including a chicken biscuit sandwich in the South. Chourico, a spicier concoction than its sister sausage linguica, is often served in Portuguese households with eggs. It's added to kale and potatoes to make Portuguese soup, and it's served in flaming bowls as appetizers in restaurants. -- The Associated Press CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil. What is the fat and cholesterol content of this stuff? (Never mind, if you have to ask, you can't afford it.)
Let me know when they offer some heart-thumpin' poutine.

Somebody please tell the folks at DD that it is pronounced Shooo-reese. Not chour-ees-oh. That is the Spanish stuff.

Sorry HOM, no poutine at DD. You have to go to Stanley's on Richmond St.
I'd rather drive to Montreal for it though.
