ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- A homeless man who stole a $1 bill and a bag of empty cans from a 10-year-old girl has been sentenced to nine months in jail.
Robert Rowell Jr. pleaded guilty on Monday to larceny in Attleboro District Court, and was credited with three months already served while awaiting trial.
Authorities say the 44-year-old Rowell was one of two men who robbed the girl as she was headed to a local market to cash in the cans on July 16.
The case against his co-defendant, 50-year-old Kevin Egan, is pending. He is free on bail and due back in court Nov. 20 for a pretrial hearing.

Is it me or is our judicial sentencing messed up?
People have committed worse crimes and receive tiny sentences, others with minor infractions receive more time. (Yes, this crime was serious as it invovled a child). But 9 months seems severe.
On the plus side, this homeless person will have heat and food for the winter.

HAHA it's Rhode Island! what did you expect? Our whole state is a joke for the most part and this 9 months is a complete joke. It's amazing how so much worse crimes get off with probation. This judge needs his/her head examined!
But maybe they did it because he is homeless and now on the bright side has a roof and hot meals.

Actually, KMac, things like this happen everywhere. If you go back and read the article, you will see that this happened in Attleboro, MASSACHUSETTS. So to you, I say: HAHA it's Massachusetts!

Wow, so that's all I have to do in order to get a a warm, safe, cozy roof over my head, three squares a day, peace and quiet, don't have to go to work every day, WOW! What an angle!!
American crims live a better life than 90% of the God-fearing peeps in the world.
