WEST WARWICK -- A 22-year-old Warwick man was stabbed this morning after getting into an argument with a friend over a ride, the police said. The incident happened around 10:30 a.m., as the men were outside of Discovery House, a methadone clinic located at 88 West Warwick Ave. Two men got into an argument, though the police did not know exact details, said Det. Sgt. Scott Amaral. During the altercation, one of the men, a 19-year-old Warwick man, took out a knife and allegedly stabbed the other man. The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for serious -- but not life-threatening -- injuries, Amaral said. The suspect has not been arraigned, but faces a charge of assault with the intent to commit murder. The police said they will release the suspect's name after he is arraigned. -- Journal staff writer Talia Buford |
