From the National Weather Service, at 12:15 p.m.: AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT. RAIN HAS BEEN FALLING ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH THE MORNING. RAINFALL AMOUNTS HAVE RANGED UP TO ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH ACROSS NORTHEAST MASSACHUSETTS INTO SOUTH CENTRAL NEW HAMPSHIRE TO OVER 2 INCHES ALONG THE SOUTHWEST COAST OF RHODE ISLAND THROUGH 11 AM THIS MORNING. THE RAIN WILL CONTINUE...HEAVILY AT TIMES...THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON. The current temperature is 64 degrees.
