It may be a couch-potato night.

Several television shows open their new season -- Heroes, Boston Legal, Dancing with the Stars, among them. Check TV listings for times and channels.

But there are some reasons to get off the couch.

Catch a tribute to the Doors from two men who know something about the '60s greats, since they are two of them. Author Judith Nies, who wrote "The Girl I Left Behind," will be at at the Rochambeau branch of the Providence Public Library at 7 tonight.
