CRANSTON -- Cranston Fire Chief James B. Gumbley said the city's public works department is cleaning out storm drains and has filled 3,000 sand bags. Gumbley said homeowners who experience significant flooding tonight should call the police department at 942-2211 or the fire department at 461-5000. Firefighters or police officers who respond will help those in need acquire the sandbags, he added. The chief said he expects flooding in some of the usual spots -- Fletcher Avenue, Natick Avenue and Perkins Avenue -- among others. And he warned motorists not to drive through any standing water on Wilbur Avenue at Oaklawn Avenue under an old railroad bridge. -- Journal staff writer David Scharfenberg CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil.
