NEWPORT -- Lawns are getting quite wet, with promise of more rain on the way tomorrow, so Art on the Lawn at the Newport Art Museum has been postponed.

The outdoor event was slated for this weekend but has been put off to Oct. 4 and 5.

The juried outdoor art show and sale runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the museum, 76 Bellevue Ave., Newport. The Elderly Brothers will perform Americana, folk and country music next Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. Art on the Lawn typically gets between 30 and 40 local and nationally known artists, according to the museum's news release announcing the rescheduling.

Admission is free.

Proceeds from the sales at the art festival are used to pay for a scholarship program that aims to foster young artists in the area, the museum said.
