NORTH KINGSTOWN -- In North Kingstown, the police reported four accidents this morning. "At least one car was hydroplaning across the water," said Capt. Charles Brennan. The heavy rain even stopped work on the police and fire station, where workers are building a new entrance to the Post Road stations. Other weekend events were canceled too, including the 24-hour Soccerfest, rescheduled for Oct. 5 and 6. Also canceled is Saturday's Autumn Faire, sponsored by South County Museum. The apple pie contest, however, will go on. -- Journal staff writer Paul Davis |
