Anthony Capraro was sworn in as a District Court judge today by Governor Carcieri. "Tony is known for his incisive legal acumen, for his keen intellect and for his ability to be both fair-minded and compassionate," Carcieri said in the statement. "Without question, Tony Capraro's wealth of experience will benefit the court in years to come." Capraro has served since 1987 as a lawyer in the Public Defender's office, where he was named trial division chief in 2001, the governor's office said. He has represented indigent clients at arraignment, pretrial conferences and trial. Capraro graduated from Providence College and, in 1986, from the Bridgeport School of Law. After law school, he interned at the Rhode Island Public Defender's office in the Kent County District. Judge Capraro replaces Judge Patricia D. Moore, who retired. -- projo.com staff writer Michael P. McKinney |
