The briefing, open to the public, will be chaired by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., and include testimony from a host of local scientists, including Kate Moran, the director of the Marine Geomechanics Lab at the University of Rhode Island; Jon Boothroyd, the state geologist and a URI professor; and John Torgan, Narragansett baykeeper with Save the Bay. "Left unchecked, climate change will affect every community in every nation on earth, altering our Ocean State - and the entire world - in ways we are only beginning to understand," Whitehosue said in a statement, "and coastal communities will be among those at greatest risk." The meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. at the URI Bay Campus, Corliss Auditorium on South Ferry Road in Narragansett. CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil. Would someone please ask the esteemed junior senator from Rhode Island for detailed sources for his claims? Putting forward dooms-day scenarios as something to be concerned about without facts to back them up is wreckless.
