PROVIDENCE -- The Warren man accused of killing his parents and burying their bodies in the family's cesspool has waived his right to a bail hearing.

James A. Soares Jr., 24, will continue to be held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions while he awaits trial on two counts of murder.

The police allege Soares killed his parents, Marian and James Soares Sr., with a garden hoe before burying them in the backyard of the family home. Concerned family members contacted the police when they didn't hear from the couple.

Soares, wearing a dark blue jumpsuit and handcuffed at the wrists, said little at this morning's District Court hearing other than to acknowledge that he understood what he was doing in waiving his right to a bail hearing.

With family members of the victims sitting in the front row, District Court Chief Judge Albert DeRobbio granted an order preventing Soares from contacting any members of the immediate family. The order was requested by family members.
