Just a few days left to catch the express bus down to the South County beaches. The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority announced today that its express service is ending for the season on Aug. 11. Sunseekers can still get to the beach after that; RIPTA provides daily service to the beaches year round on the Route 66 line. That bus leaves every 80 minutes from Kennedy Plaza. To find a route that suits your needs, see the RIPTA Web site or call 781-9400. CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil. Vicious comments, personal attacks and profanity won't be published. Why, why, why RIPTA would you curb the express bus to the beach in the middle of August? Because you want more cars on the roads? More cars in the parking lots? Less people able to escape the heat of the city?

ripta used to run the beach bus to labor day.this move will just result in overcrowding on the 66 bus.most of the news out of ripta is negative anyway.the elderly and people without cars depend on that bus.show some good will ripta and extend it to labor day.i rode it myself 15 times this summer always crowded.
