Providence has launched a new program to help keep tabs on all of the requests -- broken traffic lights, potholes, downed trees -- that may get lost in the corridors of City Hall. QAlert's aim is to keep track of residents' requests, and send them to the right person. "QAlert also provides us with a clearer understanding of constituents' needs," Mayor David Cicilline said in a statement, "so that we can make smarter decisions about deploying decisions." When a resident calls in with a request or a complaint, it's is entered into the Web-based QAlert system, assigned a tracking number, and forwarded to the right department. A resident can opt to get updates on the status of a request by e-mail. If nothing is done about a request for a certain amount of time, a department supervisor is notified. And the system is also expected to help the city find trends in city services and operations. |
