FALL RIVER, Mass. -- The police are asking for help to identify a suspect in an alleged hold-up of a McDonald's Wednesday afternoon in which the suspect brandished a hypodermic needle he indicated to a cashier was contaminated with the AIDS virus. An undetermined amount of cash was taken after the suspect allegedly threatened to "stick her" with it when the cash register was not opened quickly enough, according to a police news release. Police have secured video footage from McDonalds, Sgt. Thomas Mauretti said yesterday. The McDonalds is at 1853 South Main St. The alleged robber is described as a white male, 5-foot 9-inches tall, 180 pounds, wearing a Boston Red Sox T-shirt. The police ask that anyone with information on the suspect's identity call the Major Crimes Division at (508) 324-2796 or the TIP LINE at (508) 672-TIPS (8477). Detective Andrew Desrosiers is investigating the case, according to the release.
