NORTH SMITHFIELD -- The school department will be offering counseling for students, staff and parents at North Smithfield Elementary School on Tuesday and Thursday of next week in light of death earlier this month of a student from the school. Group and individual counseling will be available from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday Aug. 26 and Thursday Aug. 28, school officials said. Individual consultations or counseling during those times must be scheduled in advance. For more information email Rusty Brown, or call 769-5492 extension 215; also, email Cheryl Sachs or 769-5492, extension 215 with any requests or questions. Children and parents are welcome, the department said. The student who was killed was Kaitlyn Ferra.
