Submarine stays put -- salvage mission delayed again

The Russian Sub will be raised ... but not today.

The U.S. Navy has been working in the Providence River to raise Juliette 484, the 1960s era submarine which sunk in 2007 during a storm.

Salvage teams have been working at the bottom of the river
, positioning the vessel and fitting it with pontoons for the much-anticipated day when the submarine again sees the light of day.

But last week, Navy engineers spotted a problem with pontoons and had to delay their first attempt to raise the sub.

The event was postponed until today -- but with a forecast that includes thunderstorms, lightning, hail and even the possibility of tornadoes, the Navy has decided to hold off another 24 to 48 hours.

There are showers and thunderstorms in the forecast through Monday.
