BURRILLVILLE -- A candidate for the Burrillville Town Council has been charged with allegedly possessing marijuana in his vehicle. Police said Richard Teter II was arrested Friday and charged with possession of marijuana, first offense. He must appear in Providence District Court on Aug. 18. Burrillville Police Lt. Kevin San Antonio said an officer working a traffic detail motioned for Teter to stop at an intersection so other traffic could pass. Teter stopped at first, then continued moving forward. San Antonio said when the officer confronted Teter, he smelled burnt marijuana. Police allegedly found a small amount of the drug inside the vehicle. No one answered a phone call placed to Teter's home Wednesday. It was unclear whether he has a lawyer. -- The Associated Press |
