PROVIDENCE -- Up to two lanes will be closed on Route 95 north and south Saturday morning while workers pour concrete as part of the Iway construction project. The concrete pour is for a ramp that will carry traffic from Route 95 south to Route 195 east. Tomorrow's work will affect traffic on Route 95 between Exits 19 and 20. The ramp is expected to open by the end of the year, according to a statement released today by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation. After the work is completed, drivers may notice dripping water from the construction site. Water will be poured on the new ramp for about two weeks to help ensure the concrete cures evenly. The work will begin at 6 a.m. on the southbound side of the roadway, and move east. All lanes should reopen on the southbound side of the road by 8 a.m. Closures will begin on the northbound side of the highway at about 8:30 a.m., they should all reopen by 11 a.m. For questions or concerns, call RIDOT's Customer Service office at 401-222-2450 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. |
