Gualter Botas, 39, of Pawtucket and Lt. Kenneth Viveiros, 56, of North Providence, were found guilty last year of assaulting an inmate in minimum security at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston. They appealed and are now on trial before a jury in Superior Court. Anthony Roman, 25, testified yesterday that he had been beaten with a phone book and a clip board. He was the third former inmate to testify in the trial so far. The trial is expected to last three to four weeks. CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil. Mark Twain once wrote " If you want to see the scum of the earth, stand outside prison walls ..... at shift change". This isn't near the worst of it. Nobody ever believes an "inmate" when he/she complains about brutality, so they continue to get by with it. Hopefully these "bullies" get some time for themselves, although I seriously doubt it.
