A woman who was found dead in her Coventry home Saturday died from a lethal mix of alcohol and methadone. Shelly Gardner, 34, died from "acute intoxication due to the combined effects of ethanol and methadone," according to a statement from the Office of the State Medical Examiners.
Gardner's husband, Ronald Gardner Jr., 33, was found "unresponsive" in the house and is in critical condition at Kent County Hospital. Coventry police say they went to the Gardner residence Saturday morning after a relative called asking that someone check on the family. Authorities have not released the nature of Ronald Gardner's injuries, or released any details other than to describe his condition as "grave." There were no weapons removed from the home. |
