BARNSTABLE, Mass. -- A Massachusetts judge has freed a Cape Cod man accused of using a baseball bat to assault a New York man because he thought he was a Yankees fan. Robert Correia was released on personal recognizance Friday by Barnstable Superior Court Judge Gary Nickerson under several conditions, including random alcohol testing. The 20-year-old Falmouth man had been ordered held without bail earlier this month by a district court judge. Correia is charged with beating William Nestor, of Northport, N.Y., with an aluminum bat as Nestor's family waited in traffic following a July 4 fireworks display. Nestor said he was attacked after he asked a group to stop taunting people with New York license plates. Correia claims he acted in self defense. -- The Associated Press CommentsLeave a commentPlease be civil. Vicious comments, personal attacks and profanity won't be published. I'm a Sox fan, but this is outrageous and it goes to show how faulty our justice system really is. This Correia kid should have charges dealt on him. Self-defense? are you kidding me? YOU did the attacking you a-hole.
Not all ppl from the Tri-State area and New England area are Red Sox or Yankees fans. This kid is an effing piece of scum.
