It's a beach day, but two R.I. beaches are closed

The Ramones: It's not hard, not far to reach, we can hitch a ride to "Rockaway Beach"

It's a good day to get away to the beach.

Temperatures are set to hit 93 degrees today, and climb higher tomorrow. And with the heat index, it should feel hotter than 100 degrees outside.

Keep an eye on the temperatures -- and possible isolated showers -- on projo.com's weather page.

If you're going to the beach, however, choose wisely. The Barrington Town Beach and the Warren Town Beach are closed after water tests revealed high levels of Enterococci -- bacteria that suggests sewage contamination.

The Department of Health has recommended re-opening Echo Lake Camp Beach in Burrillville, which was closed on Tuesday.

Check the latest beach closures before you leave at the DOH beach monitoring Web site, or call at 222-2751.

You can get to the beaches free via RIPTA, which is not charging for bus and trolley services all day because of poor air quality.

Ah Barrington. Where the affluent meet the effluent.

Why people put P.H.D. after they sign in on a blog is beyond comprehension. After all, we know it stands for Putrid Hideous Dork.
