Jim Langevin, D-R.I., a member of the Homeland Security Committee, will preside over the hearing, which is set to take place at 10 a.m. today in the State House. "I am looking forward to hearing from a variety of federal and state agencies on how to best prepare and safeguard our communities," he said in a statement. Two panels are set to address Langevin and other members of Congress. The first panel includes representatives of federal agencies: the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Health and Human Services. Representatives of local agencies -- the state Department of Health, Emergency Management Agency, R.I. National Guard and Lifespan Hospitals -- will make up the second panel. |
