Police say Juan Diaz shot Mayra Cruz, 26, in Pawtucket on June 25. Diaz then went to Albany, N.Y., where he was arrested the next day to face a charge of murder. He also faces a series of previous charges for incidents involving Cruz, including misdemeanor assault, vandalism and the violation of a no-contact order. On July 7, Diaz faced two arraignments -- one in District Court and another in Superior, for the two sets of charges. He did not enter a plea at either appearance. He is being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston |
