There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9 a.m. today that are likely to become more widespread tonight into tomorrow, the National Weather Service says. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy today with a high of 80 degrees in the Providence area with a 5 to 9 mph. east wind shifting to come from the south, the weather service says.
