WOBURN, Mass. -- A Hopkinton, Mass., police officer has described his gruesome discovery of the bodies of a mother and her baby daughter, who were found fatally shot and snuggled together in bed. Sgt. Michael Sutton testified today in the trial of Neil Entwistle, a British man charged in the 2006 killings of his 27-year-old wife, Rachel, and 9-month-old daughter, Lillian Rose. Sutton said he and another officer first checked the Entwistles' home on Jan. 21, 2006, but they did not find the bodies until the following day when they went back and checked again. He said he lifted a thick comforter on a bed in the master bedroom and saw a woman's foot. When he lifted up the other end of the comforter, he saw a small baby's face, and next to the baby, a woman's face. -- The Associated Press |
