The fire moved toward Narragansett Bay -- not the Audubon's Education Center -- and was contained by the Bristol and Warren Fire Departments to an area between the McIntosh Wildlife Refuge between the bike path and the Bay. The fire began somewhere opposite of Hanley Farm Road, in Warren, around 4 p.m., spreading south through Bristol. See an aerial shot of the region here. Fire crews were on the scene this morning, extinguish the remaining hot spots. It is such a shame that the boardwalk that was on the front of the Thursday Lifebeat section is the same boardwalk that burned a few hours later.
Firefighters in Bristol were predicting a fire this week (school vacation).
I hope every parent nearby is asking there child where they were yesterday afternoon.
